A Special Dedication..

Can't believe it.. Its 1st September once again..

Wishing all teachers a Happy Teacher's Day

Gosh.. I just can't believe that this is my 17th year celebrating Teachers' Day, or rather, being able to relate to "Teacher's Day" (as a student). Geez.. that sure made me sound like an old ass, isn't it! Yeah yeah.. so pretty much I've been studying all my life till now.. But I do agree being a student is the best phase of your life! :)

So yeah, I always like teacher's day anyway. Its a day of celebration definitely (at least for the first 12 years of education-kindergarden, primary school, secondary school). Remember we always had songs, dances and everything else.. and it was during a teacher's day celebration back in 1995 when I got to pit my acting skills against all other kids of my level.. and I came victorious as the Best Actress. The Best Actor was an Indian guy from the other class, now don't tell me he is an actor in Mediacorp now.. (anyway, I'm quite sure his name isnt Gurmit)

And every year.. whether teachers are gonna receive cards or gifts from me, every much depends on how much work they give me the week before teacher's day. My gut feeling tells me other kids out there shares the same idea too.

Well, frankly speaking.. I really don't know what those teachers would do to their little cards and gifts.. Many of them insisted that they would keep those cards.. but think about it, 10 years down the road, how many of them would remember the face of the one who gave the card? I doubt any would.

Well.. don't deny!!

Just think of teachers' mind as a Intel Pentium M715 processor (i know this is a pretty old chip, but don't you think its a good representation of our teachers in school !!opps!!).. at 1.5GHz, 400MHz FSB and 2MB L2 cache.. They still function well at this point of time. Pretty fast I should say, to be able to run at 1.5Ghz and has 400MHz FSB.. BUT!!! A 2MB L2 Cache! With a 2 MB L2 Cache, how much data can they store? A couple of webbies?(maybe more) Its good enough if they can remember the names of students in a class without having to flip thru the class register already. Anyway, cache are never meant for storing stuff that dates back to 10 years ago.. you would be better off with a 300GB HDD really.

And for those of you who had been tortured by weird history teacher or cranky maths teacher or watever.. STOP pushing everything to being PMS! Well, indeed PMS is some of the most terrible things that female teachers have to put up with, on top of those horrendous handwriting and mind-less assignments submitted by students (need I mention those crap we used to write in tests and exams?). But teachers don't suffer on mood swings because of PMS only.. and let me tell you why..

Just pretend that your teacher is a 3-years old Pentium 3 (any P3 chip is a good representation in this case) PC with 256MB RAM and onboard graphics and SB Live! sound card. After serving you faithfully for 3 consecutive years... There is no reason why it would start up properly if you try installing WarCraftIII on it. (Alrite, you kids out there! Imagine yourself as WarCraftIII now! I know its an old game.. but its fun and you can't deny!) You are just overloading the poor PC with all those fancy graphics etc.. and those nice sound effects just don't go well with that SB Live! Sound card!! So don't complaint next time your PC decides to play you out. (or in a way.. don't blame a teacher if he or she throws you out of the class.. in most cases, you deserve it!). Just think of it as a Software-Hardware incompatibility issue, that should pretty much explain everything.

Oh gosh.. enough of trying to relate our teachers to computers.. No offence to anyone really. Just trying to lighten everyone's hard day at work with some silly jokes! (But my guess is not many would understand those techie stuff!)

I reckon the best way to show my appreciation is still to end this blog off with a sincere word from my heart..

As the old Chinese saying goes.. "Yi ri wei shi, chong sheng wei fu".. (which I very much believes in, even till this very day!)

Someone who almost had to repeat her secondary 1 education and failed 7 out of 9 subjects in her secondary 2 and faced so much problems with her studies till she had to drop A-Maths and failed her Accounts. And don't make me mention all those "bad discilpinary acts" she had committed. From then till now... No one would have guessed..
Well, thats me, yours truly.
Looking back at my life now, I'm quite amazed by the things I've achieved so far.. I'm not a top achiever, but at least that 180 degrees phase shift is a good representation of what we might call a "miracle"
And I would credit such "miracle" to no one else but a special lecturer who came into my life almost 5 years ago.. (oh gosh... this is far too mushy.. I can hardly go on..)

Guess those knowledge within the textbooks will not stay with me for long.. but, I'm thankful for the things they have taught that wasn't scribe anywhere else but only found within the word of wisdom they had shared.

Kids, do remember to give thanks to the one who taught you the way of life.. (and help you pass your exams lah!)
